I’ve seen these with both the dowl and without. Is the dowl privided? If 9mm is the spec for hole size in the fancy wood what is the spec for the silicone end if you just prefer to turn your own tenon for it to fit over? I don’t plan to use such fancy wood to bother with the dowl.

I did some investigation with the manufacturer. The dowel is built into the Silicone part of bottle stopper. So to answer your questions yes the dows is included. The stopper part that you turn has a hole in it to mount to the lathe. This hole is drilled out to a larger size and then the stopper is glued into it.
