| Longleaf Pine |
As seen in the August 2008 issue of Woodworker’s
Journal!
With rich, straight grain offsetting a warm, light-colored
background, this
longleaf pine is certainly beautiful to look at. And although technically
considered a softwood, its primary woodworking properties (density,
durability, and workability) are more akin to hardwoods than to other pine
species. It glues up nicely, sands well, and gives off an invigorating pine scent
as it is worked. For beautiful furniture with straightforward figure and
soothing tones, longleaf pine is a fantastic choice.
